The wood is 35mm thick, which creates a warm, protective structure that keeps bees warm in winter and cool in summer. The hive body is a polygon constructed from 9 pieces of wood, creating a cylinder of 55 liters capacity.

The Freedom Beehive is supported by three legs, which provide stability and support. The hive has two entrances on the side, each consisting of a one-inch hole on the top and bottom of the same side, allowing bees to access and protect from predators such as wasps. One entrance is used by the bees to bring in their food, while the other allows for ventilation of the hive.

Our Freedom Beehives are built in Carndonagh and given two coats of natural linseed oil prior to installation. They require very little maintenance over the years, making them a perfect choice for anyone who loves bees but doesn't want to spend a lot of time maintaining their hive.
